Beermug's Birthday!

Beermug (aka Mirra) wanted to go to Ocean Shores for her birthday - which is about 2 and a half hours from Seattle. Neither of us had ever been there before. It's a cute little town on the beach (which you can drive on!)... strange roads... a small town feel... filled with elderly people and tourists. We had a lot of fun!

We went horseback riding on the beach:

We got upgraded at the hotel... to a 2-bedroom suite... it was bigger than our apartment!

About 10 minutes after we checked in, we found out the the power had gone out. The whole hotel lost power. About half an hour later... we found out the entire city was out of power!! There was some disaster in the next town over that had affected the power.

We were already dressed for the night... so we went to the bar to figure out what to do... Apparently small towns don't believe in generators...

We talked to the bartender for a bit... he had heard they expected to have power again in 4-6 hours. We were a little discouraged.

Luckily... our 2nd beer in.. the power came on again.

So we headed to the casino. Well... we could have gone there anyway... they DID have a generator... so they were still functioning during the power outage. We played the penny slot machines... lost $20 each... and then gave up.

We went to dinner at a place called Alec's by the Sea. We both ordered the steak with coconut prawns... delicious!

On the way home, we picked up a package of oreos and enjoyed them on the balcony (under a blanket... it was cold!).

We got to sleep in on Sunday (hooray for me!) and then went to the beach. It was a little chilly... but we went anyway... and took some silly pictures.

We had some coffee and oreos at the hotel before the beach, but that wasn't quite enough... So we had a real breakfast... before heading back home. And I even stayed awake the whole way home. ;)
